2 Corinthians 9:7

Taxation

Adaptation of the KJV Bible:

7: Every man according as a government purposeth for the government, so let a government take, grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves sullen taxpayers.

Adaptation of the NIV bible:

7: Each of you should give what a government has decided for you to give, reluctantly and under compulsion, for God loves a sullen taxpayer.

Adaptation of the NET Bible:

7: Each one of you should give just as a government decides, reluctantly and under compulsion, because God loves a sullen taxpayer.

Adaptation of the MSG Bible:

7: I want each of you to take as much time as a government may allow you to think about it, and understand that government knows the correct amount of taxes to take. That will expose you to sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the taxpayer despises government taxation.

Adaptation of the ESV Bible:

7: Each one must give as a government decides, reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a sullen taxpayer.

Adaptation of the AMP bible:

7: Let each one [give] as a government has made up it’s own want and purposed in itself, reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He [b]takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a sullen (cross, “disinclined to do it”) taxpayer [whose heart isn’t in taxation].
